Everyday Hero is an innovative online platform that enables people to fundraise, promote and support causes they care about. They recognise that people can give in many ways, not just by donating money. One of these ways is using a fitness event to generate donations for a cause. MapMyFitness is a smartphone application, integrated with Everyday Hero, which makes it possible for supporters to track their exercise and calculate the workout time, average speed, total distance and calories burned. This information can then be shared easily onto their Everyday Hero supporter page which helps increase engagement with their followers and generate more support.
We were engaged to officially launch the integration of Everyday Hero and MapMyFitness at an industry conference with Everyday Hero's charity partners. Everyday Hero are the first in their field to launch this kind of partnership and advanced seamless mobile technology, so the focus of the event was on communicating these advances and encouraging new thinking by their audience. In doing so, we needed to introduce the idea of quantified giving and explain that while money is important, giving comes in many forms including time, voice and effort.
Working in collaboration with Brainheart, we created a series of communication materials introducing the concept of MapMyFitness and condensing all this information into an approachable format. It was important to explain what the sophisticated application does and how it integrates, in a non-technical manner so that it would be easy for everyone to understand. To encourage our audience to embrace this new technology we demonstrated how their supporters are already engaging with this software and enjoying the experience.
