FilmFest is a collaborative online hub that brings together more than 50 film festivals in Australia each year. The FilmFest mission is to develop new and effective ways of running and promoting film festivals through mutual co-operation. Multicultural film festivals represent a major asset to the cities in which they are held. They are a major stimulant of cultural diversity and understanding and generate a significant boost to economic activity. When combined with the separate Short Film Festival Program, it is estimated that over three million cinephiles purchase tickets from a combined 50+ film festivals annually. And despite the fragmented nature of the sector, these numbers are growing.
The FilmFest team came to Driven with an idea, a logo and some broad functionality direction for a large web application. The site has to cater for a variety of users including film buffs, festival organisers, potential partners and stakeholders. FilmFest is curated by some of Australia’s leading film experts therefore a content driven approach was at the forefront of our digital strategy. A concept was also required for the membership areas where users can sign up for various levels of content plus redeem items through an integrated loyalty program powered by Edge Loyalty.
Our approach for the application platform was to create a robust film and festival search function beginning with stringent user flow, detailed wire frames and customer journey maps based on four user profiles. Video on demand, forums, tiered membership accounts and social media integration were also developed.
